Version 0.3.0, released 3 November 2026. Free, with no sign-up. You’ll need a ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan for the AI features.

Opening it on Windows

  1. Run the installer you downloaded.
  2. If Windows SmartScreen says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Open Exee AI from the Start menu and sign in with ChatGPT.

Opening it on a Mac

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Exee AI into Applications.
  2. The first time, right-click Exee AI in Applications and choose Open, then Open again.
  3. Sign in with ChatGPT. After that it opens normally.

The warnings appear because this free app isn’t code-signed yet, not because anything is wrong with it.

Is Exee AI really free?

The desktop app is: no subscription, no ads, nothing to buy. Its AI runs on the ChatGPT plan you already have. The web version is for students without a ChatGPT plan: 15 practice exams and 100 flashcards are free, then Pro is CA$12.99 a month for unlimited use.

Do I need ChatGPT?

Only for the desktop app, which uses your ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan. The web version needs nothing but a Google account or an email address; its AI is included.

What’s the difference between the desktop app and the web version?

The same exams, marking and flashcards. The desktop app is free on your ChatGPT plan and keeps everything on your computer, including on-device reading of scanned pages. The web version works in any browser and keeps your courses in your account so they follow you between devices.

Which ChatGPT plan do I need?

ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro. You can sign in with a free account, but free accounts can’t generate exams. You choose how much of your allowance Exee AI may use in ChatGPT Settings, under Usage.

How does it write the questions?

It reads the material you import, picks out the key ideas, and asks ChatGPT through your account to write questions at the level of your real exam. Each question points back to the slide or page it came from.

How is the readiness score worked out?

Each answer updates your mastery of the topic it tests. Readiness combines those topics, weighted by how much of the exam each is likely to cover and by how recently you practised it.

What files can I import?

PDFs, including exported slide decks and scanned pages (read with text recognition on your computer), Word documents (.docx), and plain-text or Markdown notes.

Is my material private?

Your files, exams and flashcards are stored only on your computer. There is no Exee AI account and no Exee AI server. The only thing that leaves your machine is the AI request to your own ChatGPT account, and your sign-in is stored encrypted on your computer.

Which computers does it run on?

Windows 10 or later (64-bit), and macOS 12 Monterey or later on Apple silicon or Intel.
